Honey, I Shrunk the City! (Fursungi & Urali Kanchan Demerging)

Contemporary Turkish playwright, novelist and thinker Mehmet Murat ildan was born in Elazığ on May 16, 1965, in the Eastern part of Turkey. This guy is awesome as when the topic is about city plus society then he is to the perfection than my Urban Planning goddess i.e., Jane Jacob & his above words about cities is evidence why I said say! Though it’s always difficult how we define a good city or bad city as right from weather to culture to cleanliness to safety to infrastructure to jobs, so many aspects are involved in defining a good or bad city. Yet by me, a good city is a place where you want to make your permanent home, where you may travel around the world but after some days you want to return to that place, it’s a place where you can have your me time in any corner of that city rather it’s a place where everyone has something for him or her! And trust me I too have been around the world & there are very few such cities , Pune is indeed one such though I myself have been born in Nagpur region yet let me tell you Pune has everything for being a good (read as ideal) city from culture to safety to infrastructure (lol!) but! This but always comes in the way in making Pune a perfect city in compare to other such places at world level (not at our country level) & that’s because of our Mai-Baap govt which mostly works for some people!

That way you will what’s wrong in govt working for people, isn’t our constitution itself says, govt of the people, by the people & for the people! Indeed, govt is for the people but when it comes to urban planning, it works only for few people & if you think I am exaggerating then you can check not just history of urban planning but present too & for this a recent salvo is demerging of two of Pune’s villages i.e., Fursungi & Urali Kanchan, from PMC (Pune Municipal Corporation) after nearly five years post their merging in PMC! Again, most will say, what’s big deal in demerging of two villages from a city big as Pune & it’s part of Urban Planning, why so fuss & any ways they have been included just five years back & locals were also opted for demerging of these villages etc! The problem is not about just merging or demerging, sure, that’s govt’s authority to decide but then any authority is like a sword, all it depends on why you use that sword for, to kill someone or to protect some life! If you are thinking I am going on Marvel’s philosophical lines then let me tell you I am not as when the govt uses its authority for wrong decisions then that’s not done & demerging of these two villages is a wrong move because a city growth has to be monolithic & cohesion, imagine if all your body grows but just one leg or one hand doesn’t increase in size like other body, will you call it a right growth? Same is here, the decision of merging the 36 (may be 32) villages which were on all around the old boundaries of PMC was taken to make the growth of city in right way & proportionate & suddenly demerging these two villages is a big blow to urban planning of entire city is what my point!

And then all die-hard Punekars, do I need to remind you the term “Dhankawadi” which now is part of PMC but when it was a village right on the fringe of old Pune boundary it’s because of the illegal constructions & poor infrastructure, anything which is shabbily done or backward is still called as ‘Like Dhankawadi” in Pune!  Sorry Dhankawadi residents but this is a fact & you guys also know it & do ask the Dhankawadi residents whether they have been benefitted after becoming part of PMC or not, there only lies the answer of this demerging decision’s wrongness or rightness! And the joke is it’s been declared that these two villages now will be made as Nagar Parishad, great thanks for not again making them Gram Panchayat! As if this enlightment, that PMC hasn’t done any infrastructure works here, took five years to realize then do take a look what was the scene before five years in these villages & let me know! All over the State Nagara Parishads are failing & that’s because of revenue as well limited scope of works as in urban planning or development, the larger is volume the cheaper or say easier is the development as the cost gets divided on that many numbers as well area. PMC has already published figures that in last five years nearly Rs 500 cr amount works has been carried in these two villages & that may not be sufficient as per the demand of the villagers but the collection in terms of taxes as well development charges was only some Rs 200 cr for this time span. So, the additional Rs 300 cr which these two villagers have enjoyed were paid by rest of Pune, are these two Nagar Parishads going toe return this money of Punekars? At the same time has any thought been given how there will be revenue generation & sustainability of these Nagar Parishads & what if after next five years again these villages decide to get merged in Pune, what will be our call then?

I think, all around the world urban planning aims at merging the settlements which helps in plan in much better way, social as well physical infra which includes network of roads, water lines, drainage lines & many such. If we create pockets with individual identity & budgets & policies then to connect these pockets will be like connecting two cities which isn’t easy job, planning wise as well on administration level. Imagine giving Pune’s reservation TDR in Aurangabad or such policies & then you will realize how hard it will be to have two separate bodies working adjoining. Already Pune has Cantonments right within the PMC limit & the clashes between the authorities keeps on going all the time & we are creating more power centres which is not good for city development & worst for real estate! Today when a real estate firm is working in Pune region it has to deal with five different policy makers PMC, PCMC, PMRDA, Collectorate (town Planning) & Cantonments & now we will as Fursungi & Urali Kanchan Nagar Parishads in it, needless to say with its own interpretation of the UDPCR! And joke is, each of these local bodies have different versions of urban planning, agreed there is UDCPR (Unified rules, lol) but implementation of UDCPR is done differently by every local body as per their convenance. The best example is road cutting charges & fire premiums & road hand over premiums & the list is ever growing!  Why can’t be there one single governing body when it comes to development plan & infrastructure developments as when the citizens don’t have to take any pass or has marked these boundaries on the ground, is the question we should ask! Agreed when two towns are differentiated by geographical boundaries such as distance or mountain range or a river then it’s easy to differentiate between such cities but when one plot is in one city & adjoing plot is in another city then why to keep these tow as different cities, is something even a five-year child won’t do but our govt seems to have lower IQ when it comes to urban planning!

Instead of this merging-demerging game, lets focus on development of entire Pune region, strengthen its infrastructure such as public transport (PMPML especially) & solve the water, drainage, public health (btw, it’s this side of the city which is worse hit by Dengue) & garbage issues at whole is the need of the time. Fortunately, we have education & production & service industries in private hands & they are growing, all we need is a right & fast approach (action plan) for urban planning which only the Govt can have & that’s why high time for the other people (other than the few people) to make the govt realize that’s it’s for all or majority of the people which the govt must work for! To conclude, long back I have watched a wonderful sci-fi movie (Disney, who else) “Honey, I shrunk  The Kids”.  The story was, by accident a scientist shrunk his own kids by size & then his & his wife’s desperate efforts to get the kids back to the normal size, which eventually they do. Mai-Baap Govt, do mind it was Disney movie which usually ends on a note “and they lived happily ever after” but Urban Planning is not a Disney movie, today by demerging two villages, you are actually shrinking the city & it’s not an accident, so please think before you shrunk your kids as you may never will be able to get them back in normal way & the guilt will be on your account only, mind it!

Earning Growing-Up!

Dear Chota & Dada (& all my younger Gurus’),

It's 15^th Dec of 22 & time for a balance sheet of my own for your checking, lol! No, it’s not a joke nor a prank, but a fact as because of you two I have learnt many a thing (read as all the names in bracket along) & one of those things is trying to keep myself on a right track as I know someday you will be following those tracks knowingly or unknowingly, for some time, till you make your own path! Though some things in this balance sheet will never change & that is about right & wrong, I haven’t said what is right & what is wrong but just the aspect of right & wrong, mind it. And then it feels nice as fortunately my B’day comes at the end of the yearend too, making it in a way a review of the entire year for all of us too which we call our family or team. That way I have never separated team (read as Sanjeevani or work force) from family as by me a man must always stand by his family & the term must not be restricted to just for the group of people where you have born, Family is much large a term, it’s a feeling of bonding & togetherness with not just humans you are with but with every living object (and even mechanical objects too) which is around you as somewhere somehow you are connected with all of them. And do mind unless you don’t feel that bond & togetherness you will never be able to be responsible for your family & for me growing up is becoming (or say understanding) responsible to my family!

Dada, Chota, life is really funny thing as  when we are kids we expect other (read as elders) to celebrate our birthdays & when we become teen age we want our friends to do it for us & in our young days (where you are now) till you become grownups (considered as no more young or kids) then you want to make as much of your birthday partying whole night & when you turn forty plus, you realize this is actually reduction from your life. And then you look in the mirror & you realize your hair are thinning, your skin no longer glows & the face which stares at you from mirror looks tired, the eyes are sunk & then you get afraid of your upcoming birthday yet you put on a brave smile on face & welcomes the birthday wishes showered on you, I call this as “Law of Birthdays”! Let me tell you, I too am not exception to this law as now I too get afraid to look at mirror a times but now when I look at the ageing face in the mirror keeping apart all above said frightening things I see the eyes which has confidence of knowledge, those eyes now have bank balance of experience (of survival too). And that aged tiered face tells me, its ok to be afraid of reduction in age as other side of that deal is, addition of so many good things in my life & that is earning of my age!

I look in the mirror & see a boy standing behind that face, who has come from a small place named Khamgaon, which had I not been from that place you two would never even know such a place exists! And today I have seen things, travelled around as well as been honored (that's the only term I can use) by the people for little good things I could do such as writing or wildlife front, all this, that boy has never even in his dreams has imagined it! All of this was possible because the boy kept growing by age & experience too & that’s my earning actually, as if I had not spent those years from my age, how I would have experienced so many good things which happened to me, right? And then, I have seen (and have felt by myself too, at times) that most of the people around are unhappy or not at peace only because they either never have earned or not understood their growing-up, may it be by age or by knowledge or by money or power. All we keep doing is complaining about the losses we have made when we grow (read as age also) but no balance sheet has only a loss column, there has to be income or earning column too & then it’s up to us which column of the balance sheet we keep looking at, is what I have understood by now.

Indeed all these words you may find boring or repeat telecast (though you may not say so on my face) & I am not the only person who is or will be telling you this gyan.com but for me you are the only persons (including bhikya, ketki, rohit, shruti, siya, tanisha & other junior gang) whom I keep telling all this stuff because, because one is I have learnt not to give advice or share gyan.com with people who haven’t asked for it & I never stops sharing it with the people which are my family as that’s my duty towards you as well that’s way of returning what I have earned! Dada, Chota, most people never understand what they have earned & that is the reason most people never actually grow, even when you celebrate your birthday, for them it’s just an addition in the number of years in their age, that’s all! But unless you learn to share what you have earned, you will never actually grow. See, if you don’t give space for good things in your life then how can more good things come in your life, right? So, the best way is to share good things you have & create space for more good things in life. And the joke is, this very principle is applicable to the bad things too, that’s why never share bad things with others as that will create space for bad things in your life & more bad things will come in your life, this understanding about life is what my earning of my growing up!

I know you may not even read till this much or have just read as we watch Reels / Insta stories which gets auto-deleted from the account & I don’t blame you both as that’s a phase from which each of us has to go, the problem is most people remain in that phase only. Someday when you will read or re-read or remember my sharing way ahead then you will smile & will try writing or sharing it with your family, I am sure of it. So, to summarize my “earning growing-up”, the usual ten pointers for this year’s Life Balance sheet…

1.Dont be afraid, to be afraid of something but face your fears as that’s the best way to get rid of your fears.

2.Have faith in someone or something, it may break but that’s not your fault, it's the fault of that person.

3.Never try to judge someone for what he or she is, as you are not a judge of anybody’s life but yours.

4.Always respect wisdom as that's the best way to gain it.

5.Go for good habits as they are hard to adopt & easy to lose.

6.Never run behind other person’s success as you don’t know what he has gone through to have it, instead, create your own scale of success.

7.Try to lead on your own as in this world nobody will hand you a sword for free.

8.Read, Watch, Travel as much as you can as these are the means to understand earnings while you grow & do all this with an open mind.

9.Agreed, luck plays a vital role in growing but there is only one thing which can defeat your bad-luck & that is, your determination to defeat it!

10. Last & universal, for all balance sheets of life, choose your right & wrong wisely & stay firm once you have chosen it!

And yes, thanks a ton for accommodating me the way I am as that has made my growing-up wonderful as well as gives me strength to accommodate life the way it is, with happiness, always!

G20 Summit & Forcing Our War on the Wildlife!

Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest and most influential physicists of all time. I think some names just don’t need any introduction at any time in any decade or even century & Albert Einstein is one such & it’s not just for his Physics Laws or Atomic research but for his humanitarian philosophy too, which has been reflected in his above quote about humans & wars! The topic of this sharing is entirely different from what I have come across till now on the front of social or wildlife issues & let me tell you, it is shocking! It started from an article in the newspaper by my good friend & a wildlife lover journalist of Ma Ta, Chaitrali Chandokakar. The article was about the use of Kite (ghar in Marathi) by the Indian Army, a prey bird which can fly up high in the sky & is known for its ability to sight smallest of objects from a very long distance as well as flying capacity. These are the characteristics which are found in most birds of prey & exactly these characteristics which has made the Indian Army to use these birds for sponge or say spying or say for their own security surveillance, was the subject of the article. The article also mentioned that Indian Army has formed a squad (just like a Dog Squad) of these kites (birds) & they will be training these birds for air surveillances by mounting cameras on the back or neck of these birds & get information about enemy movement or any other ill entities movements along the border of our country. In future also the Indian Army will be trying to utilize such species & their special skills or powers for assistance in our wars against the enemy.

Well, I know whatever I am writing here after may make me enemy of our country (at least some may think) & that’s why I addressed this letter to none other than our Hon Prime Minister as well Hon President & Hon Defence Minister too, who jointly heads the responsibility of national security as well as are decision makers of our defence policies! That way Chief of Staff & our Security Adviser are also there but then these two (later names) doesn’t represent people or say humans but they represent army or say soldiers & they will always think of only one thing which they have been trained for & that is, winning the war at any cost, so no point in appealing them for what I have in my mind or what bothered me after reading that article! The said article also mentioned a few other cases where animals & birds are used by other countries for warfare tactics for e.g., China used trained monkeys to shoo away birds near air bases as they were making obstruction to fighter planes. And the plan succeeded to such an extent that because of the threat of monkeys damaging their nests on the  trees nearby such air bases, the birds around, permanently migrated from these locations. As well when the Chinese soldiers knew that kites’ types pre birds are being used by their respective enemy for spying then they shot down every flying bird in their sky thinking it may be a spy bird with a camera mounted on it & I don’t blame Chinese soldiers as we too would have done the same thing in our side of the border!

And then war is not just about using Kites & Monkeys as all around the world every country’s defence teams has been & are engaged in research of use of animals, fish & birds (even virus & insects) to win the war. This is not just some Hollywood movie’s script (though it’s been shown in many movies, animals used for army warfare) but a known truth which is seldom discussed as this is directly related to respective country’s nation security & once you say that word then all tongues get locked within their mouth & the brains behind those tongues get shut, is the scene whichever the country may be! Agreed, we humans are the most evolved species & for thousands of years we have used animals from other species for making our life comfortable & in many cases they have been taken good care also though still for die hard animal lovers that is unjust. We have been using dogs for fighting terrorism & detecting drugs as well explosives & that has saved thousand of human lives is also a fact. Horses & Camels are an inherent part of patrolling at the borders of our country & they too have been an important part of our defence systems. Similarly, we have been using elephants & donkeys also for para military works & all such acts at some levels are justifiable as dogs, horses, donkeys, elephants are domestic animals & many of these jobs are carried out in controlled conditions such as airports or city crime scenes. Yet imagine the dog which recently got shot in encounter with terrorists in Kashmir, does the poor fellow even realized why he has been shot for or how to protect itself from gunfire or a bomb blast! You can train a dog to detect some explosive or find a terrorist by smell but can you teach a dog to survive on its own the way we the humans are trained for? As well while a soldier is patrolling on the back of a horse or a camel then that soldier has a gun to protect his life as well has a bulletproof jacket & ear buds to protect eardrums from the sound blasts, & more than that a human soldier is trained & understand what war means, can we teach this to a horse or a donkey?

Imagine an eagle or a falcon happily wandering high in the sky & getting shot down just because some human wearing some uniform on the ground with a gun in hand thinks this bird can be an enemy to his country, Modiji what are we doing to nature? If with this speed entire prey birds are wiped from the borders of our country this will imbalance the life cycle in many habitats. And today its Kites & Falcons being trained by our military, tomorrow it will be Dolphins & day after some genius can think using Tigers & Leopards carrying bombs & sending into enemy camps, or using Cheetahs as runners behind enemy lines as they can run faster than any human & are undetectable to metal scanners & can move in the dark, & what next? More importantly do we understand what path we are creating for our next generations by using other species for our wars & more importantly who gave us this right to make other species as part of our war with our defined enemies, is the question I want to ask, not just you three but to all the leaders of the world! I repeat I don’t say neglect our country’s safety but Sir on one side we are hosting G20 summit saying its One Earth but on other side we are proudly (read as conveniently) forcing our war on the mother nature by using animals, birds, fish for our warfare tactics, what kind of “One Earth” we are building! Already on the wildlife conservation front not just Kites but every wildlife specie is fighting their own war of survival with entire human species & losing it everyday & on top of it we are now making them use their powers (read as their survival skills by nature) for our wars, is this how we define “Wasudhaiv Kutumbakam”!

On a very personal note since I have read that article I started feeling guilty of being human (read as cursing myself) & that’s why I choose to write you three, as our Hon President is Chief of all our Defence Units, & she herself is  a tribal lady (by birth) which are supposedly not just close to the nature but are protector of the forests too! And you two i.e. Modiji & Amit Shahji, you come from a region which taught entire world “Ahinsa” (No violence) & “BhhotDaya” (Apathy towards every living animal), then how can all three of you allow use of wild animals (read as any animal) in our warfare, is I want to ask you as an individual! Hon PM Sir & President Madam, you must stop this practice in our country & take a lead to ban use of any animal in warfare tactics all over the world, as only that will make us a true & deserving host of G20 & to use the tag line “One Earth”, mind it!

Garbage, City & Adar Poonawalla!

Stewart is a gifted writer & author of books like “The Vorbing” & the interesting thing about the good authors is not their command of the words but the way they can connect their feelings with the words, which is why I found Stewart’s above words perfect when the subject of my sharing is garbage! Of late our beloved city (actually entire world) is worried about many fronts such as communal hatred, terrorism, drugs, drinking water, pollution, deforestation, traffic, population growth & pandemic, but in all these aspects one major front which is directly related to every aspect of life we are forgetting. And it's silently growing within our society just the way cancer cells grow inside an apparently healthy-looking body on the surface but when the stage three is crossed the killer disease surfaces suddenly from nowhere & by then all is gone! Same way, while we are fighting with infra fronts which can be seen on the surface & which are outcome of our development which most of us call as growth also but under the cover of this growth there is a silent killer which is very much active & alive in the so-called healthy body of our Smart City & that is none other than the Garbage of which we only are the creator just the way our body only create cancer cells which eventually ends our own life!

If you think I am exaggerating things, then please open your eyes (even if you don’t open them yet you can smell) & look around you while you move in & around this city & tell me what you see! Right from when you step out of your home (read as flat), in the lobbies of the staircase you will find garbage bins with cartons telling you what has been ordered in which flat last night. You step down to the ground floor & at the entry gate you will find bigger dust bins awaiting to be collected by none other than a PMC garbage collection truck & this contains everything from leftover food to interior works thrash to damaged mobile chargers!  Then you look at the wet garbage treatment vermicomposting pits in your complex which are mandatory by PMC by laws & you find they are full with dry leaves of trees in your society & any such thing but wet garbage & are not in operation since the possession of the building! Then you come on the road & see the so-called public garbage bin also overflowing & one need not have to look at the board of “Public Garbage Bin Here” as entire surrounding of that place is covered with every possible piece of garbage & pigs as well stray dogs doing the rest of damage to spread this garbage. If this is not enough then as you start walking you can see (and smell too) thrash laying all along the footpaths & that also contains left over food parcels to empty beer bottles to sanitary napkins (used) & on top of it building material waste. If you go further down out of centre city & bypass then you can actually see small hills of such garbage all along both sides of the road as more the space available for dumping (read as public space) more is the volume of garbage dumped, is the simple formula of garbage accumulation & no village, town or city is exception to this Law of Garbage! And if you don’t see any garbage around you at any of the places I have mentioned, then check your eyesight (nose too) or you are definitely not in Pune or any village or town or city in our State, maybe you are abroad! All those die hard “Maharashtra Lovers”, I am sorry if you got offended with my statement but use your love, affection (& anger for my words) to keep the surrounding garbage free than wasting your time in cursing me, that will help more to our beloved State. I deliberately used the term “Garbage Free” rather than “Clean Surrounding” as our definition of cleaning is, pushing our garbage (read as throwing or dumping) in neighbourhood spaces from where we won’t see or smell our own generated garbage!

Just the way many soft drink companies advertise their drink as Zero Sugar or Zero Calories & we feel happy living a healthy life even while we consume those soft drinks, the same principle we apply to our definition of Cleanliness by throwing away our garbage out of our eye sight! This is why I call the garbage issue as dangerous as cancer. Slowly, somewhere all this accumulated garbage keeps poisoning our environment in every possible form, may it be polluting water sources or degrading soil quality or polluting air with foul gases & we think we are living healthy life with no garbage around to be seen. As well the hips or garbage are actually home of bacteria & viruses via mosquitos & many such insects & on top of it we have the most innovative way of destroying the garbage & that is to burn it, which actually destroys us, the humans more than that garbage! But then why am I wasting my words for the damage the garbage can & is doing to our lives as we know this already, don’t we? Well, why I am wasting my words is sometimes the bitter medicine dosage is needed to give repeatedly as then only its effective the same way I just mentioned our attitude towards this garbage cancer!

Now coming to our standard question when the problem is about providing infrastructure or dealing with public issues like garbage & that is, “what the xxxx the govt is doing about this garbage, don’t we pay our taxes, why we should be dealing with garbage then?”!  Yes, govt is indeed responsible for dealing with the garbage problem & you do pay taxes, thank you for that but the real question is, “who the xxxx creates this garbage & throws it around?” And the answer to this question is, every one of us creates some or other type of garbage but we abandon this garbage just the way some illegal child gets abandoned by its parents (lawaris)! I am sorry guys, for the harsh analogy but that’s the fact about our created garbage as we generate every kind of garbage in every hour of the day but we never take ownership of that garbage, right?  And nobody is taking ownership of the garbage, which is the biggest reason which makes this garbage problem as most dangerous in the ranking of civic or say urbanization infrastructure problems because then everybody just points finger at someone else for taking care of the garbage & it just keeps increasing & damaging us only! And this is why we can’t just blame the govt for not taking care of garbage as govt indeed is responsible but the majority of responsibility for the garbage problem lies on every individual. How can we expect the govt to clean up the mess we have created as we throw our home’s, work place’s garbage in public places at our will without treating or ever segregating it & then we blame govt for the same. We don’t even take efforts to carry the garbage to public garbage bins but prefer to just throw it or dump it along the footpath outside our buildings & we shout in the name of govt that it doesn’t keep the city clean. We worship our god in our homes as well in temples & we throw the earlier days flowers & offerings (prasad) in the river & we name govt for not doing anything regarding rivers getting polluted. We let our industrial/ construction waste dump in the grasslands or hills around & we think the govt will make these lands green & the list of our wrong doings is endless but we point finger to the govt for all such wrongdoings of ours, true hypocrites we are!

Now if you are in tune with what I shared till now about garbage then let’s see what is need of time & need of the time for garbage is everybody should become Adar Poonawalla! If you think I have gone mad, as whenever a cleanliness drive is mentioned people (read as our leaders) take names of Mahatma Gandhi or Gadgebaba (a true social worker) & yes, these names are important but they are past & we just use them for publicity instead following their actions. Now you will ask why Adar Poonawalla, well look around in the city as if you see garbage all around then you will see some garbage collecting vacuum cleaners as well some trucks & men with uniform & all these will have Adar Poonawalla Foundation logo on them, this is why we all need to copy him. Poonawalla are billionaire & apart from making Vaccines they care for their city & has contributed in Crores of rupees to the civic body for taking care of garbage & indeed we may not able to donate in the form of money but we can individually help civic body on two fronts, first is trying to reduce generation of garbage & second is helping in treating (recycle) the self-generated garbage! So, we have to follow the attitude of Adar Poonawalla on the front of the garbage, taking responsibility for the garbage, is what is need of the time!

At local bodies as well as societies, we need to undertake a drive for awareness among every citizen, what & how he or she can contribute against the fight with garbage. On this front I must mention the recent Clean Societies’ Namo Cup (don’t go by name) event where in my locality a political party has arranged a competition for the buildings to make their building clean. Let’s keep the political aspect aside but this is very important initiative, as alone no govt or dept can make & maintain even a ward clean leave apart the city! And just by making laws against throwing garbage, nothing will change, is what we have witnessed though that doesn’t mean remove these laws but awareness & law enforcement should go in hand. At the same time stop collecting wet garbage from the societies’ which have got sanctions with conditions of vermicomposting. Where such a system was not made, make them do it now & make provision of funds in the budget of local, State as well Central budgets for vermicomposting or wet garbage treatment plants & time specified or else fine them with double property tax! At the same time there has to be squads to patrol around to keep an eye on throwing garbage in open or public areas & such people should be punished so heavily that no one should again dare to do so (I am day dreaming, I know). Most important is, continuous awareness programs about garbage problems in schools & colleges, as this is a very effective medium in the long run. On a personal level we must try to apply our mind to reduce the garbage generation & for that first always carrying a cloth carry bag is an easiest & effective way as packaging or using carry bags for every item we buy is the biggest garbage generator. And ordering food which we can consume is another aspect or at least repack it in a good way & give to needy ones. Here the local civic body can think of making leftover food collecting systems & redistributing it to the poor, just a thought & we need many such thoughts!

Do mind, water, traffic, homes, jobs, education, public health these all things we can generate or create but the garbage problem is altogether different because it’s not about generating but about dealing with what we have generated. We are “One Earth” & its round, so whatever we push away, one day will again land in our own backyard (in multiplied volume) & garbage is no exception to this law of physics, adios with this note!
